European U/23 Championships

Daniel Rowden just missed out on the European U/23 800m title today as he placed 2nd by just 0.01 secs. Also making a final was Jack Lawrie over 400mH, and Joseph Dewar progressed to the 100m semi-finals.

Having comfortably won his heat with 1m47.51 secs Daniel Rowden's 800m final was today. Daniel initially kept out of trouble and sat off the pace but found himself having to hurdle a fallen Spanish athlete after 200m. Entering the straight Daniel was in a good position only to be knocked from behind with 90m to go, despite then finishing very strongly to record 1m48.16 secs he just failed to capture the title.  See here for video of the race.

Jack Lawrie progressed to the final of the 400mH, after a good heat where he recorded 50.40 secs. He was then 4th in his semi-final with 50.46 secs to qualify as a fastest loser. In the final from the inside lane Jack finished 7th with 50.60 secs. Joseph Dewar who due to an injury troubled build up had his first races of the outdoor season at the UK Trials for this championship, and where he ran 10.2 three times to make the team, won his 100m heat with 10.48 secs, then placed 3rd in his semi-final with 10.45 secs, to just miss out on making the final.
