With the brief Indoor season just getting under way, a handful of Woodford athletes were in action at the South Of England Championships at Lee Valley. There were titles for Youcef Zatat, Robert Wolski and Chloe Bradley. There were also medals for Kitty Eleyae and Amelia Macdonald.
Youcef Zatat's title came in the shot, where he (above) enjoyed a comfortable victory with a put of 16.05m. Robert Wolski was also a clear winner in the high jump where he recorded 2.05m, and Chloe Bradley's title came over 800m where she recorded 2m11.86 secs. Kitty Eleyae picked up a silver medal as she placed 2nd in the long jump with a pleasing 6.00m, and Amelia Macdonald gained bronze when equalling per personal best of 1.60m in the U/20 women's high jump.
Also making finals were Gabriella Ade-Onojobi who was 4th in the women's 60mH with 8.74 secs, Kaiesi Opera who was 5th in the senior men's 200m with 22.83 secs, and Paul Scanlan who didn't start the 400m final, but recorded 50.61 secs when qualifying from his semi. Others in action were Alex Bell who recorded 22.87 secs in his 200m heat, but unfortunately had to pull up in his semi-final, Talia Morton-kemsley who recorded 9.54 secs in the heats of the U/20 women's 60mH, and Samanta Bendaraviciute who recorded 66.30 secs in her heat of the U/20 women's 400m.
The previous weekend at the Sheffield BMC meeting, Chloe Bradley had also been in action where she placed 5th over 1500m with 4m30.69 secs, whilst Canaan Solomon was 3rd over 800m with 1m51.63 secs. At Cardiff on Sunday Chris Stone placed 2nd over 60m with 6.82 secs, after a 6.83 secs heat, which was the same time as he had recorded the previous weekend at Birmingham.
