Several Woodford athletes have been in action indoors over the last couple of weeks. Amongst many decent performances Youcef Zatat’s season’s best in the Shot stood out.
Competing in Vienna in the Indoor Classic meeting Youcef Zatat placed 2nd in the Shot with a season’s best of 17.62m, which places him second on this season's UK indoor rankings. There were also good shot performances from Mathilde Bilon, who twice improved her p.b. first to 13.67m and most recently to 13.82m at Aubiere, France. Others competing overseas included Canaan Solomon who placed 2nd over 800m in Bratislava with 1m51.84 secs, Tiffany Porter who was 4th in Karlsruhe, Germany, over 60mH with 8.21 secs, just outside her recent season’s best of 8.16s set at Penn State in the US.
Closer to home, Anna Nelson placed 2nd in the Scottish Indoor Champs over 400m with 57.42 secs, whilst at the Welsh Indoor Championships Chris Stone was 7th over 60m with 6.94secs, after a 6.87 secs heat. At Lee Valley this week Chloe Bradley recorded a season’s best over 800m as she placed 4th in the “A” BMC race with 2m09.99 secs. At Newham in the indoor sprints meeting Joey O’Neil was just outside his p.b. with 7.52 secs. Peter Kirabo competed at Brunel University in the triple jump and recorded 13.70m, and in the long jump Sam Khogali has been in good form with 7.38m at Sheffield at 7.18m at Loughborough. HCA member Nathan Gardner has been in decent PV form with his best competition so far at Cardiff with a clearance of 4.82m, just below his p.b.of 4.85m
