Track and Field Catch-up

Several Woodford athletes were in action over the previous week, and results included p.b's for Phil Norman, Anna Nelson, Canaan Solomon and Ewan Dyer.

Youcef Zatat: beat the UK number 1

At last Saturday's Watford BMC Grand Prix, in blustery conditions, Phil Norman raced over 1500m, placing 2nd in the B race with a personal best of 3m46.65 secs. Also racing over 1500m at Watford, Chloe Bradley recorded a season's best of 4m27.68 secs. Over 800m Canaan Solomon placed 4th in the A race in 1m48.71 secs, and in the women's C race Anna Clark was 4th with 2m10.50 secs. On the same evening in Oordegem, Belgium, Daniel Rowden finished 4th over 800m in 1m47.32 secs, whilst over 400mH at the same meeting Anna Nelson improved her personal best by 0.75 secs, breaking 59 secs for the first time as she placed 2nd in 58.89 secs.

At Bedford on Bank Holiday Monday, Youcef Zatat (photo above), the current UK Shot Put No.2, got the better of the current No. 1, Scott Lincoln, winning by 17 cm with 18.21m. Also winning was Lucy Marshall in the hammer with a season's best of 58.26m. In the high jump Will Grimsey was 2nd with 2.11m, and Kitty Eleyae recorded 5.66m (0.0) in the long jump.

Mid-week at Brighton, Canaan Solomon had a race over 1500m at the BMC meeting and recorded a personal best as he placed 2nd with 3m48.82 secs whilst, at another BMC meet in Glasgow, Ewan Dyer recorded a personal best over 800m of 1m53.03 secs.
