Roding Valley Half Marathon - update
Update - Sunday 8th March:
Thanks to all of you who took part today. Sadly our numbers were down on previous years, I think mainly due to the emergence of many big "corporate" events in the adjacent weeks. When this race was started in 1981 it was primarily targeteted as a London Marathon warm up, and clearly lots of other organisations have jumped on the band-wagon. For this reason I may consider moving the race to a different time of year for 2021. We will not cancel the race and whenever we do hold it I will ensure that it is well publicised. That said, all the feedback I received from runners was excellent and we are pleased to be able to put on a well organised race "by runners, for runners".
We were lucky with the weather this year, despite a mixed forecast in the week before - the showers started just as the last runner crossed the line.
Many congratulations to the winners who can be seen in the results (see link below). Of significance is the fact that the first two over 40 male finishers were in fact over 50 and over 60. Well done to Orion Harriers to winning the team Trophy presented by Haslers, who have generously supported the race for many years.
Once again, I hope you enjoyed the race and i look forward to welcoming you back again in the future, whenever the race is held.
