Competing at the KBC meeting in Ghent, Belgium on Sunday, Joice Maduaka improved over both 60m and 200m. In the former she placed 5th recording 7.38 secs to move to equal 3rd on this year's UK rankings and in the 200m was 2nd with 23.82 secs and goes 2nd on the UK rankings. Damien Moss improved almost 2 secs from Thursday evening and placed 3rd over 800m in 1m48.68 secs and moves to 3rd on the UK rankings. UK number one Sarah Claxton , was a little below top form placing 7th over 60mH in 8.36 secs. At the Irish Championships in Belfast, Nick Leavey placed 2nd over 400m with 47.96 secs. In the Inter City Challenge semi final in Sheffield, Francis Smith showed good form with a season's besT in taking the 60mH in 8.04 secs, and placing 3rd in the 200m with 22.25 secs, whilst Alasdair Strange was 3rd in the PV with 4.81m. Many of WGwEL's top athletes will be competing next weekend in Sheffield at the UK National Championships, and trials for the European Indoor Championships to be held in Turin in March.
