WGwEL athletes were in action at the BMC meeting on Wednesday evening. Competing in the Sydney Wooderson Memorial 800m, where prize money was awarded for the winner should they run quicker than Wooderson's former world record of 1m48.4 secs, Oli Heeks placed 7th in a time of 1m51.17 secs. In the women's challenge equivalent where the target was 2m04 secs, Tara Bird, whose season has been held back by injury, significantly improved her season's best, placing a close 3rd in 2m03.21 secs. In other BMC races there, Omar Mansour placed 9th in the "B" 800m in 1m53.97 secs, Tim Prendergast recorded 1m55.63 secs for 4th in the "C" 800m, and Andrew Mariani was10th in the same race in 2m01.77 secs, having been badly impeded and almost falling. In an Open 1500m at the same meeting, Tom Phillips ran 4m02 secs.
