Commonwealth Games: Men's Discus Final, Women's 200m semis

Emeka Udechuku placed 5th in the discus final in Delhi on Sunday, with a throw of 59.59m. His 5th place finish was two places better than his 7th in Melbourne in 2006. In the women's 200m semi-finals, Joice Maduaka progressed to the final after finishing 2nd in the 3rd semi, recording 23.56 secs (+0.6). Elaine O'Neil placed 3rd in the same race in a season's best of 23.77 secs (+0.6), but seemed to have missed out on making the final as a fastest loser by 0.09 secs. However, the final, also due to be contested on Sunday evening was postponed until Monday, over a protest that the second placed athlete in the first semi-final ran inside her lane. If disqualification is confirmed, Elaine as the next fastest would move into the final.
