Elsewhere last week (Tuesday 5th October), 17 of our young athletes and 4 of our seniors ventured up to Hog Hill in the dark for the first Chingford League fixture.

This was a good early season run-out with the steep finishing hill to be negotiated on each lap, but the slightly chaotic starting arrangements (with the U15/17s commencing at the bottom of the hill, unlike the U13s who started at the top, outside the clubhouse) resulted in a few DQs as runners missed their start. In truth, this is down to insufficient volunteers being willing to help with the organisation of the league.

The U13s race was won by Daniel Rowden, who completed the two short laps (1700m) in 6:26sec. For the U17M, Sam Benge was first across the line (3k in 10:39) followed by Lorcan Murphy in 3rd (a welcome return from injury after missing the entire summer season) only 3 seconds down on Sam, with Sean Kenny in 4th and Ryan Dunne in 6th. Several new members made their first winter appearances - James Wakefield, Chris Hogg and James Campbell in the U13B; Abbie Dell, Saffron Earl and Niamh Bartlett in the U13G; Jessica Edwards in U15G and Elliot Joseph in U15B.
