Agustus 3rd in London CC; speedy Gunby
On what was a quiet weekend team-wise, there were some pleasing individual results around and about.
Daniel Agustus was an excellent 3rd in the London CC Championship. Interestingly, he finished 18" up on Serpentine's Nick Torry, who has been 2nd and 3rd in the first two Met Leagues of this season, while the two men ahead of him were good enough to finish 6th and 9th in the South of England CC earlier this year. Agustus has been attempting to re-acquire the sort of form which took him to sub30 for 10k and 4th in the Northern CC a few years back.
In the classy Leeds Abbey Dash 10K, Loughborough-based tri-specialist Matt Gunby followed up a "massive week's training" by clocking 30mins 10secs, 36" quicker than his PB which dates from 11 months ago. Andy Mariani ran 33.12 in the same race after a poor lead-in with sinus problems.
Running a PB of 57.34 in the Epsom 10 earned Gareth Cavell the prize for 1st M40, and CJ Shepherd was fastest in the Hackney Marshes Park Run, while Rachel Lund ran 42.47 in the Jean Bouin 10K in Barcelona.
