Jess Sparke 1st home for England in Spain: Updated
Jess Sparke competed for England today in an international senior women's cross country race in Elgoibar, Basque Country, Spain. In a race where the first 4 women were from Ethiopia and Kenya, Jess led home the England team of three in 8th place, in 23.37, which compared to the winner's time of 22.29. The other England athletes were Naomi Taschimowitz (11th, 23.50) and Natalie Harvey (16th, 24.23).
Felicity Milton won the Brass Monkey half-marathon in York on Sunday. Considering her PB is 76.29 (2008), her time of 77.45 in apparently very windy conditions seems highly positive.
Also running well is Harold Wyber, who finished 2nd in the tough Box Hill Fell Race in Surrey, where he was delighted to run 5 minutes faster than last year - 50.13 to 55+mins. He was only beaten by Joe Morwood of Aldershot. Next up for the pocket dynamo is the "Southern" CC next Saturday.
A small group of senior athletes also ran the Chingford League CC race hosted by Orion Harriers at Chingford - results.
