National CC Relay: Young Athletes

Woodford sent three teams up to Mansfield and came away with some good results.

In the Under 13 girls race Olivia Hounsome ran the the first leg and although feeling unwell still did her best placing 69th in 8 mins 57 secs over 2k. Next away was new recruit Bella Hoy who tore through the field running 7 mins 51 secs the 12th fastest la[p of the day to bring the club in 22nd. On the last leg Aoife Guyatt ran well to cover her leg in 8 mins 39 secs to bring the team in 26th place out of over a 100 teams starting, a fine performance.

The Under 15 girls had the misfortune of losing Rosie Poole out with tendonitus. In her place on the first leg was Jodi Ratcliff who placed 48th in 8 mins 09 secs. Next away was Alicia McArdell who ran well moving up 13 places to 35th in 8 mins 10 secs. Abbie Dell ran the final leg and despite running her heart out recorded 8 mins 54 for the final leg, bringing the club home in 49th.

The Under 17 team over 2.5k was started by Amelia Barrett who ran a fine opening leg to come in 21st in 9 mins 48 secs. Next away was ever reliable Isobel Moss and although slipping back to 49th she gave her all running 11 mins 37 secs. On the last leg Jess Burgess clearly showed she is benefiting from Richard Thurston's group as she passed 15 runners in running an excellent 89 mins 49 secs.
 

 

Overall some fine performances and the athletes enjoyed the big ocassion and now look forward to this weeks Met League
