Track & Field News
WGEL's Shana Cox was a member of the GB&NI 4x400m team that won the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenberg on Sunday. Shana, who had earlier placed 6th in the individual final with a time of 53.15 secs ( 52.86 secs s/f), ran the 2nd leg (52.2 secs) on the GB team that set a new British record of 3m27.56 secs. There was also some 400m news from the US where 200m specialist Sam Watts contributed a 46.6 secs relay leg to TCU's 4x400m team at the NCAA qualifiers. Not previously noted on our updates was a fine mile pb from Conor Bradley last weekend. Racing indoors at the Athlone Graded Open in Ireland Conor placed a very close 2nd in 4m02.67 secs. Moving outdoors there was a promising earlier season performance from Mark Dry who won the hammer at the winter throws competition at Looughborough with 72.45m. This has earned Mark selection for the GB & NI Team for the European Cup Winter throws meeting in Castellon, Spain, March 16th-17th.
