Sainsbury's British Indoor Championships

Several Woodford athletes were in action at the British Indoor Championships held at Sheffield over the weekend. Most successful was Dan Awde, who picked up a bronze medal over 400m, while Omolulu Abiodun also impressed, over 200m.

Dan Awde's bronze medal over 400m came in an indoor personal best of 46.90 secs. Just 0.08 secs separated the three medalists, although Dan had originally finished fourth, before initial winner Luke Lennon-Ford was disqualified for a lane infringement. Sadly, in the women's event, Woodford's Shana Cox, a potential winner, suffered the same fate as she too was disqualified for a similar infringement, having initially won her heat.

Omolulu Abiodun, the recent Southern champion, continued his improved form, making the 200m final where he finished fourth in 22.07 secs, but he had recorded an indoor personal best of 21.46 secs to qualify. Over 800m, neither Jordan Donnelly nor Tara Bird were at their best. In the men's event, Jordan placed 6th in his heat with 1m55.37 secs, whilst in the women's event Tara was 4th in her heat with 2m11.70 secs. Over 3000m Conor Bradley finished 12th with 8m16.49 secs.

In the field events Youcef Zatat was best placed, 6th in the shot with 15.69. In the high jump, Robert Wolski placed 8th with 2.12m, and Jack Lochans 11th with 2.07m, but in the women's event Ayamba Akim no-heighted. In the women's long jump, Kitty Eleyae was 11th with 5.73m. HCA member Dan Gardner was 6th in the pole vault with 5.15m, and another HCA member, Moe Sasegbon, recorded 8.88 secs in her 60mH heat.
