Further Track and Field News of Woodford athletes included an African Championships silver medal for Tosin Oke and British Masters titles for Ayamba Akim and Bernadine Pritchett.
Commonwealth Games silver medlasit Tosin Oke, competing for Nigeria, again finished 2nd to Glasgow Champion, South African Godfrey Mokoena, in the triple jump in the African Championships at Marrakesch this week.Tosin recorded a season's best of 16.97m (+1.9). Another former GB&NI international Tim Abeyie, representing Ghana placed 7th in the 100m final with 10.40 secs (+0.4), having recorded 10.38 secs (+1.6) in his semi-final. Tim didn't reach the 200m final, but placed 4th in his semi in a season's best of 20.91 secs (-0.9).
At the British Masters Championships in Birmingham, Ayamba Akim retained her W40 high jump title with season's best of 1.71m. Bernadine Pritchett (W45) won silver over 800m with 2m26.86 secs, then gold over 1500m with 4m50.43 secs, and bronze over 400m with 66.07 secs. Competing in teh BMC Trafford meeting on Tuesday Jon Cook was 5th over 800m with 1m50.46 secs, and at the Watford BMC Meeting on Wednesday, Dan Gurton recorded a season's best over 1500m of 3m56.94 secs.
