kitty eleyeaThe indoor Track & Field season got under way at the weekend with several Woodford athletes in action at Lee Valley in the South of England Championships, where there were title wins for Kitty Eleyae and Omololu Abiodun. there was also news from the Scottish Open in Glasgow, "Vault Cardiff", and from the US.

Kitty Eleyae's win came in the long jump where she produced a winning leap of 5.98m. In winning over 200m Omololu Abiodun, defended the title that he won last year, His winning time in the final was 21.75 secs, having won his heat and semi-final with times of 22.09 secs and 21.86 secs respectively. Another defending their title from 2014, was Robert Wolski, who had to settle for 2nd place and silver. Having cleared 2.06m, he passed the eventual winning height of 2.09m, but failed at 2.12m having decided to restrict his approach to a short run-up, due to a back proble. Also gaining a silver medal over 800m was another defending champion Omar Mansour whose time of 1m54.42 secs, was quicker than his winning time last year, and good running in an event which required three rounds of 800m races in one afternoon. Also making the final, and placing 6th was former 400m specialist, Paul Scanlan, who recorded 1m58.98 secs,  Paul was pleased with his personal best of 1m55.36 secs as he qualified from his semi-final. There was another 800m silver medal, for Anna Clark in the women's U/20 event, and she was close to her best ever with 2m16.50 secs. 

Over 60m, Elaine O'Neil comfortably progressed to the women's final, but she did not start having recorded 7.66 secs, in both her heat and final. In the men's event 19 year old Olumide Ogunseitan made a decent breakthrough to make the final. Although only placing 6th with 7.02 secs, he recorded personal bests in both his heat and semi of 6.98 secs and 6.93 secs respectively. Justin Duru, just missed out on making the final, recording 7.03 secs in his semi-final. Edward Yamah recorded 7.20 secs in qualifying from the U/20 heat but a slight injury prevented him starting in his semi-final. HCA membee Moe Sasegbon placed 3rd in the women's 60mH final with 9.04 secs, teh same time as she recorded in her heat.

In the Scottish Open at Glasgow Jack Lochans opened his indoor season with a high jump win with 2.05m. Competing at the "Vault Cardiff" meeting, Katie James came away with a win with a height of 3.91m, and also clsoe to his best, and also winning was HCA member Dan Gardner who cleared 5.31m.  Competing at Fayeteville, in the US, Sam Watts helped his University's 4x400m to a win with a 46.6 secs realy leg.
