WGEL Juniors not phased by Intense Heat at Dartford
The WGEL Juniors took part in the 2nd league match in the YDL Lower at Dartford and come away very pleased with a 2nd place.

Marcel Winter and Omari Paul-Jones performed well in the U/15 boys 100m with times of: 12.5sec and 12.4sec respectively. Omari was in fantastic form in the high jump with a PB height of: 1m 62cm, whilst Marcel jumped a height of: 1m 40cm. Marcel not to be out done recorded a PB in the 200m with: 24.9sec, which was not wind assisted and a massive PB in the discus: 24m 69cm, Omari was 1st in B-String long jump with: 4m 93cm. Ethan Franklin still coming back to full fitness following injury earlier in the year came 1st in b-string 200m and his time of: 25.3sec was enough for a PB. In the 300m Godwinner Kassa Nkebani ran a time of: 43.1sec, while Josiah Mohammed came home in: 46.7sec. Godwinner also did the 800m in a PB time of: 2min 20.7sec and aPB was taken in his 80m hurdles: 14.5sec. Gregor Samson also did the 800m and 80m hurdles again with two new PB times of: 2m 27.0 in the 800m and 16.0sec in the 80m hurdles. Along with them Patrick Hayden did a non scoring 800m and was also delighted to pick up a PB with: 2m 31.6sec. In the longest race of the day both Oscar Farthing Barbero and Nate Harding ran very well, Oscar was 2nd in a-string with a PB time of: 4m 35.0sec and Nate 1st in b-string with the same time and a new PB. Oscar also did the shot putt and again a new PB distance of: 5m 73cm, while Nate did the javelin with a PB of: 21m 41cm and shot putt: 5m 75cm. In the long jump debutant Luca Kaye leaped to a-string success with a distance of: 5m 36cm. Alex Hancock took part in three throws events with his preferred event of javelin and a new big PB of: 31m 69cm, a distance of: 13m 99cm in the discus and his new event of hammer with an impressive: 17m 05cm. The relays at the end see the team come home 2nd in the 4x100m (Godwinner, Ethan, Omari & Marcel) with: 47.8sec, and the team of (Josiah, Gregor, Nate & Oscar) finished 3rd in the 4x300m with: 2m 57.8sec.
In the U/15 girls Benie Massembo ran the 100m with a time of: 13.0sec and Demi Salako recorded a PB of: 14.1sec. Benie was 2nd in the 200m a-string with: 26.9sec and jumped into 2nd place in the long jump a-string with: 4m 57cm on her debut in this event. Amana Oguntuga had a sprint double PB in the non scoring 100m with: 13.8sec and 28.7sec in the 200m. Lexie Gobran was 3rd in the b-string 300m with: 49.7sec and also 3rd in b-string 75m hurdles with: 16.4sec and a PB. Abigail Reid ran a very impressive 800m winning by nearly 100m with: 2m 17.7sec and a 300m a-string 3rd place with: 44.4sec. Emily Millward was supporting Abigail in the 800m and came home in a time of: 2m 43.5sec, while Matilda Frith was a non scorer in this event with: 2min 48.7sec and a PB, she also did b-string long jump with: 2m 88cm. The long race in the heat of 1500m had Molly Sherrin run a time of: 5m 09.5sec and Isabella Worwood with: 5m 49.3sec. Rebecaa Wright continues to multi task with a fine 1st in the 75m hurdles: 11.9sec, a new PB by 1cm in the shot with: 10m 28cm and javelin: 16m 11cm. Keisha Bediako jumped 1m 15cm and Demi Salako also in the same event did: 1m 20cm and also did a-string discus with: 12m 63cm. Blossom McCartney debutant did the hammer coming 2nd with: 14m 01cm, the discus: 11m 21cm and the shot putt: 5m 37cm. The relays see the girls come 2nd in the 4x100m (Demi, Rebecca, Amana & Benie) in a time of: 52.2sec and the team of (Eva, Lexie, Keisha & Matilda) were 3rd in the 4x300m with: 3min 23.6sec.
Thomas Niewczasinski-Kirkland ran the 75m in the U/13 boys with: 10.2sec and a good leap of: 4m 76sm to come 1st in the a-string long jump, but recorded a PB in the 75m hurdles finishing 1st with: 13.9sec. Jhonathan Ghebretinsae on his debut ran a time of: 11.2sec in the 75m, the 150m with: 21.7sec and a throw of: 18m 81cm in the javelin. Oz Nochi & Luke Stoneham both debutants ran the non scoring 75m with: 12.4sec PB and Luke: 12.0sec. Oz also did a non scoring 800m with: 3m 01.9sec like Stephen Ng with: 2m 55.8sec. Harry Stockill who again like many other u/13's was making his debut for the club and ran a very impressive time of: 3m 51.40 in the 1200m with Ethan Day ran the b-string in a time of: 4m 20.0sec. Leo Everitt ran a PB in the 75m hurdles in: 16.6sec, a high jump of: 1m 15cm and a PB in the 150m of: 23.3sec. His brother Zac Everitt did the b-string 800m in: 2m 58.7sec, long jump of: 2m 79cm and b-string high jump of: 1m 15cm. Daniel Arnold ran really well to finish 2nd in a-string 800m in a time of: 2m 41.2sec. In the throws Tristan Dolan did the shot putt with: 5m 33cm and a PB in the Javelin with: 13m 32cm, while debutant Joshua Allen did the b-string shot putt with: 4m 19cm. The team finished of with a 4x100m (Jhonatan, Leo, Harry & Thomas) coming home in a closely fought race with 3rd place: 56.6sec.
The U/13 girls laden with talent like the other groups didn't disappoint. Caitlin Hancock ran the 75m in: 10.7sec and recorded a very fast time in the 150m with: 20.5sec and a PB whilst leaping to: 3m 72cm in the b-string long jump. Azzurra Cioni also did the 75m with: 10.7sec and 1st in a-string long jump with a PB distance of: 4m 15cm. Annabel Reid ran a PB in the 75m non scoring event with: 11.2sec and Ishana Malcolm also non scoring in the same event recorded a PB with: 11.6sec. Annabel wasn't done there as she also did a PB in the 150m with: 22.0sec. In the 800m Jasmine Hall ran: 2 min 48.0sec and Eliza Bridges knocked seconds of her PB in the same event with a time of: 2m 36.6sec and another PB in the high b-string with a height of: 1m 25cm. Faye Owers and Amber Higgs-Smith ran the 800m non scoring event with times of: 2m 39.5sec PB for Faye and a time of: 2m 44.0sec for Amber. Natasha Wynn ran the 1200m coming home 1st in a-string with: 4m 03.7sec and Tess Noblet was 1st in b-string: 4m 18.3sec. Both were again in action in the 70m hurdles with Natasha 1st in a string: 12.6sec and Tess a PB with a 2nd place in b string: 14.0sec. Natasha also contested the high jump with : 1m 25cm, while Tess did the shot putt: 5m 10cm. Amber Higgs-Smith apart from the 800m did the shot putt b-string with: 4m 70cm and a new PB in the javelin with: 14m 64cm, while Soraya Youcaf-Purcell b-string PB of: 10m 94cm. Their last event of 4x100m see the team of (Ishana, Caitlin, Azzurra & Natasha) finished 3rd in a very respectable time of: 57.4sec.
Overall the team excelled themselves in very challenging conditions due to the heat. They keep on improving and developing for now and the remainder of the year, GO TEAM WOODFORD JUNIORS you are true stars.
