English Schools XC Teams Cup Final Woodbridge School
The weather for this event can be best described as very cold. The course for the Inter Boys race was 4.2k in distance. A tough circuit involving two steep climbs on each circuit.
Four Woodies were representing Davenant Foundation School, who had gone through two rounds to reach these finals. 27 schools contested the Inter Boys with over 150 on the start line. Schools were present from all over England. Six students from each school ran on the day.
Harry Stockill ran a brilliant race. The winner, Thomas Thake, who won the Junior boys race last year, was always in control but Harry was clinging on to Joseph Hill in third spot. As the race progressed Thake pulled away with Hill closing on him at the end. Our lad was a brilliant 3rd, just over 20 seconds down on winner Thake. Earlier this year at the English Schools XC Thake was a minute ahead of Harry. How our lad has improved!

Behind Harry Luka Norden, still on his way back from injury, and Daniel Arnold, a bottom Year U15 lad, started out in a steady fashion before they really got motoring to move through to 30th for Luka and 34th for Daniel. Josh Stephenson, very new to our sport, was the school's 4th scorer and showed improvement again in a top class field to place 94th.
So the school placed 6th - a tremendous achievement from 27 schools, and had it been three to score they would have been 3rd. They were in front of Coopers and were 2nd Essex school to finish, behind Southend High School.
Harry was 1st Essex lad home, with Luka 5th and Daniel 6th, also a fine achievement.

This was a tremendous achievement from our boys who all showed great support for each other.
Congratulations to all four lads.
