Loughborough EAP/Watford BMC

There was news of some fine hurdling performances from both Sarah Claxton and Callum Priestley at Wednesday evening's EAP meeting at Loughborough, together with some other useful performances from WGwEL athletes, both at Loughborough and the Watford BMC meeting.

Olympic finalist Sarah Claxton showed she is rounding into form at the right time as she looks forward to next month's Berlin World Championships, breaking 13 seconds for the first time this year as she recorded 12.95 secs (+1.1) at the Loughborough meeting. Callum Priestley also enjoyed a further breakthrough - the recent European U/23 medalist recorded a fine personal best of 13.56 secs (+0.9), which also breaks Richard Alleyene's "domestic" WGwEl Club record. Graham Hedman comfortably won the 400m at Loughborough as he clocked 47.00 secs. In the women's 100m, Elaine O'Neill just edged out Jeanette Kwakye as they placed 4th and 6th in a tight race recording 11.58 secs w (+2.7) and 11.61 secs w (+2.7), respectively.

At the BMC Gold Standard meeting at Watford Alex Cornwell (3m 51.48 secs ) and Gavin Lewis (3m56.13 secs ) were both in action over 1500m, whilst New Zealand ParaOlympian Tim Prendergast recorded 1m56.36secs over 800m.
