Open Graded Meeting, 17th April 2010
The Club hosted its first open graded meeting of the year in super conditions on Saturday, and the weather certainly played its part in ensuring a sizeable attendance from track and field athletes of all ages looking for early season competition. There were notable performances from Perri Shakes-Drayton (2009 European U23 Champion in the 400m hurdles), running a PB of 23.71 in the 200m (-1.3 wind), and Andrew Elkins (U18 Shaftesbury), who threw the hammer 68.36m. Many spectators were also interested to see Paul Martelletti (Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets) warming up for this Sunday’s Virgin London Marathon with a speedy 8.33.66 in the 3000m.
The remaining open graded meetings will be held on Tuesday nights during the summer. The next meeting takes place on 8 June (please see ‘Fixtures’ for full details).
