M50s 4th at National Relays

Our team finished 4th at the National M50 Road Relay at Sutton Park on Saturday. From the moment that Iain Cumming handed over in 21st position at the end of stage 1, after running 17.36 for the course which was stated to be "exactly 3 miles", we moved gradually through the field but were unable, ultimately, to break into the medal positions. This despite a total team time that would have medalled in any one of the previous 5 years.

The rest of the team was: Terry McCarthy (leg 2 – 17.53), Paul Chase (leg 3 – 17.31), Dave Cox (leg 4 – 16.48), Richard Holland (leg 5 - 16.51) and Tony Pamphilon (leg 6 – 16.41 despite bruising his shin against a dog!).

The medals were taken by: 1, Ron Hill Cambuslang; 2, Clayton-le-Moors Harriers; 3, South London Harriers.
