Middle-distance PBs at Watford

Competing at Wednesday evening's BMC/graded meeting at Watford there were middle-distance personal bests for Ronnie Sparke, Alex Cornwell, Georgie Sales, Darren Southcott and James Stockings.

GB U/20 Cross Country International Ronnie Sparke ran in the "A" 800m race and was dragged round to a significant personal best, improving by 1 1/2 secsonds from his recent Essex Championships mark to record 1m51.78 secs. English Schools 1500m champion Alex Cornwell improved his 1500m best by over a second, placing 9th in the "A" race with 3m49.39 secs. And U23 Georgie-Lou Sales took over 4 seconds off her 1500m best, clocking 4m29.38. All 3 are very highly ranked nationally in their age category.

In the other graded events, U20 Darren Southcott lowered his 800m PB by around 3 seconds, leaving it at 2m03.73 secs. He was just pipped by U20 Dan Yaxley, who ran 2m03.36 secs. U17 James Stockings also reduced his 800m PB by over 4" as he ran 2m 07.03. U17 Amy Doyle clocked 1m 06.19secs in her 400m debut.
