Indoor Round-Up

WGwEL athletes were in indoor action around the UK, and in Moscow over the weekend. Amongst some good performances perhaps the most notable was a personal best over 200m from Eugene Ayanful.

2009 European junior 100m bronze medalist, Eugene Ayanful, raced over 60m at the Birmingham Games on Saturday, improving his season's best as he progressed to the semi-final where he recorded 6.86 secs. Also making it through to the semi final, was hurdler Dan Davis who recorded 6.99 secs. On Sunday at the same meeting Eugene was back in action over 200m where after three rounds he placed 3rd with 21.84 secs, but did so after qualifying from his semi with a fine personal best of 21.48 secs. Also back in action on the Sunday, Dan Davis placed 2nd in a high quality 60mH recording 7.89 secs, after qualifying with 7.88 secs. Over 400m a front running Nick Leavey just lost out on the line, but in placing 2nd recorded a season's best of 47.43 secs, after a 47.57 secs heat. Others in action at Birmingham were Dan Bray with 51.00 secs in the 400m heats,  Jason Greenidge with 7.22 secs in the 60m heats, Katie Skelding who progressed to the 200m semi-finals, clocking 25.6 secs after her 25.22 secs heat, and Kim Murray with 25.78 secs in the 200m heats.

At Sheffield in the Inter-City Challenge, Vincent Ogedengbe was 3rd over 400m with 48.95 secs, and Emily Moss was also 3rd, over 800m with 2m10.05 secs. At the Windsor open meeting at Eton,Colin Wilson recorded 7.10 secs over 60m , and Lee Lovelock-Jemmott 7.61 secs. Further afield, in Moscow, Joice Maduaka placed 6th at the Russian Winter Meeting.
