Young Athletes Awards Presentation Night

WGEL held their annual Young Athletes awards night in the club house after training on Tuesday 8th February. The clubhouse was full with young athletes, parents, coaches, team managers, officials and seniors, along with special guest Tosin Oke.

Tosin, the Commonwealth Games Gold medallist in the triple-jump and WGEL member, did a wonderful job aiding Jean Burgess (the evening’s Compere ) by presenting the numerous awards listed below.

The WGEL YA Section would also like thank Tosin for being so approachable with the enthusiastic youngsters who wanted a photo with him at the end of the evening. Also thanks to everyone who attended, and thanks to Cowsi Magol and Ken Bray for providing the photos and music, and to Christine Foy for providing the refreshments, financed by the Evergreens.

NYAL Team Managers 'Athlete of the Match' Awards

Match 1, 2nd May at home: Girl – Holly Pattie-Bellili for three 1st places. Boy – Daniel Rowden for his fine victory in the 800m.

Match 2, 16th May at Sutcliffe Park. Girl – Tobi Akinwumi won both A string 100 & 200 races. Boy – Kyle Jervier for finishing 1st in the 100m in 12.1secs.

Match 2, 20th June at Kingsmeadow. Girl – Stephanie Smith for 2 big PBs in the Pole Vault. Boy - Sam Benge for 2nd in 800m, 1st in 3000m & 2nd in 1500sc.

Match 2, 18th July at Sutton Park. Girl – Sophie Fuhr for fine all-round team performances. Boy - Youcef Zatat for 1st in the Javelin and 1st in the Discus.


NYAL Awards

The awards below recognise the efforts of individual athletes in the NYAL. Awards have been determined by the athletes who have managed to represent the club at the four meetings and achieved the most points for the club in each age group. All points are based on the NYAL scoring system and the issued results. Awards are medals: Gold, Silver, Bronze.
