Essex Schools Yrs 7&8 races, Hylands Park, Wed 9th Feb

Six Woodford youngsters were selected to represent Essex at Reigate on 26th March in the South of England Inter Counties CC after they all placed in the top 8 at a dry and sunny Hylands Park with the going underfoot reasonably firm in most places.

First away, in the Junior Girls race, with 285 starting, Rosie Poole and Jodi Ratcliff held onto their forward positions in great style placing 7th and 8th respectively.

Next off was Canaan Solomon in the year 7 boys race, with 290 starting. Canaan shared the lead with Basildon's Max Jones until 800 metres from home when Canaan made a well timed break to come home 50 metres up as Essex Champion

In the Year 8 girls race with 275 starters, Alicia McArdell and Isabel Lavine were sharing 5th spot at the end of the first small lap until Alicia pushed on for an excellent bronze medal with Isabel running the race of her life to place 6th.

Daniel Rowden, in the Year 8 boys race, placed a noteworthy 8th out of 250 starters.
