English Schools CC
Four Woodford youngsters represented Essex in the English Schools CC at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on Saturday. For once, the weather was very kind to runners and spectators alike with sunny, wind-less conditions.The going was firm and flat, with one climb towards the finish.
Best placed was an excellent run from Perry Rowan in his 1st All-England in the Junior Boys race. Perry got a good start and ran ran strongly throughout to place 27th in 14 mins 26 for the 4.2 k course, some 48 secs behind winner Holden from Surrey, but first Essex runner across the line. Perry was just 19 seconds off an international call-up.
In the Junior Girls race over 3.5K, Amelia Barrett ran strongly throughout to place a fine 66th for 5th Essex runner in 13 mins 36 secs, just one minute behind the winner from Yorkshire. Amelia was part of a winning Essex Team in her race.
Sidnie Sales had another good run in the Senior Girls race, placing a solid 71st for 5th scorer for Essex and helping her county team to 2nd spot.
