London City Runner Met League race 3: Senior Women

Unlike the last two fixtures a tough course greeted our ladies for this 3rd match on a sunny but cold day at Ruislip. With the demands of Christmas shopping at this festive time of year, nine ladies nevertheless turned out flying the green and white hoops including three of our junior members which was encouraging.

Once again Kat and Bernie gave an excellent account of them selves. Kat Gundersen placing 12th and Bernadine in 21st place. Rachel Lund continued her fine form with a good 24th followed by Lauren McGregor, our first Under 20, placing a solid 26th spot. Maggie Powell ran well for 40th spot with Junior member Claudia Conway back home from University in 42nd spot. That gave us 4th spot but we still remain 3rd in Division 1 with two fixtures to go.

Our b team consisted of Jenny Thomas in 60th with another junior back from Uni Kate Stockings in 70th and Alex Wardle, as reliable as ever with a superb sprint for the line in 86th. Again we remain 3rd in Division 2.

Meanwhile in Belgium, Jess Sparke was a late call-up to an England team which competed in the Brussels Lotto Cross Cup. She finished a useful 20th, 61" behind Hatti Dean (6th) and 1 minute exactly behind Steph Twell (7th).
