National Young Athletes League 1

It was a cold and damp day and with many of our U17 athletes being absent due to their commitment at the Olympic Park and several gaps in events for all age groups, Woodford unfortunately finished in 6th place in the first of the NYAL meetings. However, all the athletes who attended competed brilliantly. Not only in their desired events but jumped, threw and ran in events unfamiliar to them.
James Bongart (U17) had a Javelin 1st throwing a super 45.87 and Daniel Francis (U17) was 1st in Shot (11.94) and Discus (41.67). Lorenzo Okusaga (U15) Pole Vaulted to a new PB victory with a whopping 2.90. Mason Barrett (U13) came 1st in U13 HJ (1.38) whilst several other athletes managed to achieve new PB’s which is a great start to the season. First places for the girls were Amelia Barrett (U17) (4.57.7) and Jessica Burgess (U17) (5.08.3) in the 1500m.
Our relay teams did exceptionally well. The U15 girls did a marvellous job coming 2nd despite some injuries within the team. Our U13 Boys and Girls Teams did brilliantly. U13 Girls Team consisting of, Phoebe Fuhr, Zara Logan, Aoife Guyatt and Rachel Moncrieffe came home in 2nd in 59.0 as the Harrow team who were in front of them were disqualified and the U13 Boys Team of Mason Barrett, Thomas Finch, Chris Agyeman and Rayne (Tola) Allen excelled themselves by coming 2nd in 56.6. Well done all of you and lets look forward to achieving.
