Matt Gunby and Sidnie Sales excel

There were two fine results from our endurance athletes this weekend. Matt Gunby finished 5th in the McCain UK Cross Challenge cross country at Cardiff. He finished 35 seconds behind winner Wales' Dewi Griffiths and just 6 seconds behind the winner of the first Met League recently, Peter Huck - and over a course which was almost a mile further.

And Sidnie Sales, who was a a very good 6th in the recent Met League, went 2nd in the UK U20 rankings over 10 miles on the road. It is relatively rare that U20 women tackle the distance, but Sidnie ran extremely well to finish 22nd woman overall in the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth, running 61.35. The women's race was won by Olympian Jo Pavey in 53:00.
