Woodford Wasps in Tom Pink Relays


WGEL U13 Boys and Girls together with the WASP's U11 Boys and Girls had some success at the weekends Tom Pink Relays held at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
With teams from Horsham, Lee Valley, Woking, Sutton & District, Herts Phoenix, Brighton & Hove, Dorking & Mole Valley, Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets and Vale of Aylesbury our athletes were up against some of the best in SE England.

Our best track result of the day was in the U13 Girls1500m (3 x 2 1/2 laps) time trials, where Aoife Guyatt, Katie Petyt and Maya Chinegwundoh finished 1st with a time of 4mins 37.9 secs, just pipping Herts Phoenix by 1.2 secs.
In the U13 Boys, Chasing Steve 1500m, where 5 boys run 100m 3 times in a continuous relay, Christopher Agyeman, Tola Allen, Sameo Seyoum, Sam Barker, Thomas Finch had to run even faster in the final, than their heat, to grab 3rd place over Brighton & Hove, in a time of 3mins 49.8secs..
In the U11 Girls (WASPs), Keeping up with Paula 1000m, where 5 girls run 100m split either 50/50 or 75/25 twice in a continuous relay, Abigail Coe, Ella Wigul, Abigail Allen, Ellie Manson and Flora Brown clinched 3rd place again just pipping Brighton & Hove, in a time of 2mins 53.3secs.
in the field, our best result was in the U13 Boys Weight for Distance, where you throw a weighted ball as far as you can, Sam Barker finished 1st with 13.5m.
In the U13 Boys Standing Triple Jump, Christopher Agyeman finished 2nd with 6m46 and in the U13 Boys Standing Long Jump George Cunningham finished 2nd with 2m12.
In the U13 Girls Standing Long Jump, Katie Petyt finished 3rd with 2m10 and was unlucky to finish 4th in the Standing Triple Jump with 6m17.
In the U11 Boys Weight for Distance, Ben Myres finished 3rd with 11.25m
Although no medal positions there were some good performances from the U11 Girls Standing Triple Jump, Ellie Manson 4m86 and Abigail Coe 4m72 and in the Standing Long Jump, Abigail Coe 1m62 and Ella Wigul 1m62.

It was a fun afternoon and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to Helen Finch and Wendy Fuhr for managing the teams.
