Ed Shepherd 4th in Home Countries XC

19 year old Ed Shepherd finished 4th on Saturday representing England U20s in the Home Countries International XC at Dinefwr in Carmarthenshire. It was a pleasing end to the season for Ed, who earned his vest through finishing 7th in the English National CC at Sunderland and 49th in the Senior Inter Counties race in Birmingham.

Ed reports, "I enjoyed the experience. It was a small field and we started off very bunched for the first lap, before Jack Gray broke away up a hill. Then, as a group tried to chase him, I ended up in 4th for the last lap, and I was on my own so I just tried to get a big enough gap on the group behind me."

Ed was then ready to help out his clubmates next day by running a long (7.6K) leg in our Southern 12 Stage Road Relay team, but the race was cancelled.
