Eastern & Essex Indoor Championships
We had a good turnout of athletes at Lee Valley for the Eastern and
Essex Championships on 8th/9th February.
Notable performances were from our U20s Joseph Dewar who won the final
in 6.82 after a brilliant heat/semi in 6.78; Edward Yamah in 2nd 7.16
and George Hamilton in 7.37. James Bongart who was sprinting instead of
throwing javelin, ran a PB of 7.421 but hadn't realised he had
qualified for the semis so missed out. U15's Katie Petyt reached the
final of 60m hurdles (final 9.84) but won the LJ with a distance of
5.01. Molly Gardner came 3rd in Essex with a height of 1.45 (HJ). U17
Boys Scott Webster and Shayne Dewar also competed in HJ both doing very
well gaining medals for Essex Scott (1.75/Bronze) and Shayne (1.80
/Silver). Shayne also ran 60m (7.60). U20 Hugh Williams was first in
Shot throwing 12.28. U15 60m finalists were Brandon Shibchurn (7.55)and
Jermaine Brown (7.75); Kelechi Ojiako just missed out on the final. Sam
Barker (U15) put in a great performance over 200m and George Cunningham
was 5th in U15 LJ (5.13). Kyesha Robinson ran a brilliant 300m to get
and Essex Silver (46.39). U13 Ella Wigul came 3rd for Essex with a LJ
of 4.03. Well Done to all the athletes who competed.
