WGEL's Joseph Dewar was in fine form on Saturday taking the England Indoor U/20 60m title at Sheffield, and there was encouraging early season form from Andy Frost.

 

Joseph who last season won the World Schools long jump title, but whose sprinting has been steadily improving this winter, took the title in a personal best 6.71 secs, having won his heat in 6.90 secs and semi in 6.81 secs. Sadly for Joseph it wasn't all good news, as a few metres from the line he felt his hamstring tighten, leaving him unable to compete in the long jump the following day. Also competing at Sheffield in the heats of the U/15 Boys 60m were Jermaine Brown and Kelechi Ojiako who recorded 7.71 secs and 7.97 secs respectively.

 

In the US, and competing at the Big 12 Championships in Ares, Sam Watts recording times of 21.43 secs and 21.78 secs, whilst in Colorado, Alex Cornwell raced over a mile and 3000m recording 4m22.73 secs and 8m49.36 secs. In Cedar Falls, Hollie Pattie-Belleli competed in an indoor pentathlon, scoring 3757 points with individual marks of 9.15 secs (60mH), 5.35m (LJ), 9.07m (SP), 1.53m (HJ) and 2m29.68secs (800m). Closer to home ,earlier in the week at Crystal Palace, Adrian Stamp recorded a season's best of 7.05 secs, and also 7.20 secs.

 

Competing at the early season Loughborough Hammer competition, Andy Frost was in good form recording 71.19m in winning. Likewise in the women's event, HCA member Myra Perkins took that event with 57.50m
