A century for Centurion George!

Our congratulations to go out to the club's oldest member, George Eastwood, who turned 100 years of age on 23rd April 2024.

28/29 May, 1976: George becomes a Centurion 

George joined Woodford Green AC in 1972, when he was 48 years old. He soon took up race walking. In May 1976 the club promoted a 24-hour walk at Ashton Playing Fields, and George recorded a distance of 115 miles 1705 yards. 

He went through 100 miles in a time of 20 hours, 29 minutes, 39 seconds. This earned him membership of the Centurions club, whose members have walked 100 miles within 24 hours.

In 1996 George was made a Life Member, primarily for his exceptional construction-related contributions towards the club's facilities.
