Early Track News

The outdoor Track and Field season got under way on Sunday with several WGwEL athletes in action at the first of the Havering Mayesbrook winter warm up meetings. Amongst a number of encouraging Woodford performances, the stand out result was from Sam Watts. The World Youth Championship 200m finalist competed over 150m and recorded a fine 16.1 secs into a strong headwind to comfortably win the U/20 race. There was also good news from New Zealand, where London-based Paralympian Tim Prendergast had returned home to contest his national championships. In a tactical 1500m final, Tim placed 10th with 3m56.99secs, pleased to have ducked under the 3m57.00 standard for next year's Paralympic World Championships.
