Weekend Round-Up

WGwEL performances in early season competition this weekend were led by hammer throwers with Mark Dry getting his season off to a solid start and young U/17, Harry Clarke opening his season with a significant personal best.Competing in a high standard early season competition at Mansfield, last year's UK number one, Mark Dry got his season off to a solid start, just a metre below his personal best with 69.61m, but such was the standard Mark only placed 3rd in the competition.

 

Meanwhile at the Chelmsford Throws meeting, Harry Clarke opened his season with a 6m personal best as he won the U/17 event with a fine 57.65m. Older brother Peter Clarke, also opened his season solidly as he comfortably won the U/20 event with 57.87m. Competing at the same Chelmsford meeting, Hollie Redman won the discus with 37.10m and Tom Richards the U/20 javelin with 46.12m..

On the track at Chelmsford, the following day, Tyler Brown won the U/17 200m with a personal best of 24.43 secs, and Sam Benge recorded 2m10.48 secs over 800m. Sophie Fuhr had a fine win in the U17 300m. in 43.65 while young Alicia McArdle came 3rd. in the U13 800m. in a great 2min. 42.6 sec. HCA member
Martin Lloyd comfortably won the high jump with 2.10m. In the US, competing in Indianapolis, Sarah Bird recorded 4m48.114 secs over 1500m
