9 Woodford youngsters performed well representing Essex at Shuttleworth, Bedfordshire. 12 year old Canaan Solomon, in his first "big " race, did really well to place 8th (3rd Essex runner), only 20 secs behind winner Butler from Hampshire. He also helped Essex win the team title. Daniel Rowden acquitted himself well, placing 36th in 10 mins 41 secs.
In the Under 13 girls race Alicia McArdell had a fine run, placing 28th (5th Essex runner home) over the same 3 k course, returning 11 mins 28 secs.
Amelia Barrett, short of training due to a production at Harlow Playhouse, perfomed very well to finish 33rd in the Under 15 girls race in 15.56 mins (5th Essex runner).
In the Under 15 boys race Perry Rowan, like Amelia a 1st year under 15, ran well to place 43rd in 14 mins 04 for the 4 k course, just over a minute behind winner Holden from Surrey. Perry was 5th Essex runner.
Under 17 men training partners James Stockings and Liam Blaikie did really well to place 21st (16 mins 02) and 26th (16 mins 10), being 4th and 5th scorers for Essex over the 5k course.
Becky Hewitt had a fine run in the Under 20 women, placing 20th in 26 mins 31 secs, being 4th scorer and helping Essex to a set of silver medals. Just one place further back was a determined run from Claudia Conway, a 1st year under 20, in 26 mins 37 secs.
